This summer we have been working on an extendable table for a dining room. The table, made mainly of American oak, opens in the middle so that an insert can be added, extending it by about 50 cm.

Next step in the SV13 overhauling path has been to end the horizontal spindle head and mount it into its ways definitively. Some works remain to be done: finish the fitting of the slideways, clean and relube the feed screw assembly, do the cosmetic work and finally inspect and relube if needed the spindle bearings.

The Schaubling 13 oil level sight glass should be replaced because the original one was chipped off after pulling it out. Which materials and how to mark it?

Here I face to recover the original aspect of the Schaublin 13. I will try to preserve original colors and distributions and, to some extent, the original coating where possible.

During the last months I’ve been helping Luke Rickert —of Elisenberg Engineering— to move forward a foundry project. I had a limited experience on foundry business that comes from the rebuilding of a cabinet saw and Luke’s project became a really interesting experience.
All begins when Luke asked me about foundries in Catalonia. He currently lives in southern France and he is really close to catalan speaking lands.
